EUGENE, Ore. — There was plenty of excitement on Day 8 of the 2024 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials. The lone track final featured Grant Holloway He did something he almost never does – run into a hurdle – and still finished in 12.86 seconds to win his second consecutive U.S. Olympic Trail race, beating only two other runners who had run times under 13 seconds and becoming the first man in history to do so three times under 13 seconds.
The times were also lightning fast for most of the semifinals. Hobbs Kessler In the 800m semi-finals, he recorded a time of 1 minute 43.71 seconds. Noah Lyles She ran the 200m in 19.60 seconds, the fastest time in Olympic Trials history, but the wind speed of 2.5 m/s prevented her from setting a new Trials record. Shakari Richardson matched her personal best in the women's 200m semi-final (21.92 seconds), but was only the second-fastest of the day. Gabby Thomas He recorded a world-leading time of 21.78 seconds.
We don't want to spoil the fun, so for your convenience, we've summarized all of the events below, except for the historically amazing Men's 110 Hurdles Final, which we'll have our own summary of here (which may not be available until 11pm PST).
