2024 French Elite Championships
Leon Marchand He topped the 200m butterfly heats this morning with a time of 1:57.90. Marchand, who will win the event at the 2023 World Championships, should improve his time tonight, as he likely played it safe this morning by saving the 200m breaststroke for later in the session. Marchand has had some tinkering with the 200m breaststroke but has never competed in a championship event. With the Olympics being held domestically, the organizing committee has changed the schedule to allow more rest between the two events, making it likely that Marchand will be eligible to represent Japan in both events.
Marcian broke the two-minute barrier. Noyan Taylan (1:58.46) Clement Secchi (1:58.99). Marchand followed with a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.85). Antoine Marc (2:12.83) is still looking for a ticket to Paris.
Emma Terebo After setting a new French record in the 100 backstroke this morning, she looks well placed to make the team in two events, and her time of 2:10.37 in the 200 backstroke this morning is already below the Olympic qualification time of 2:10.39.
