This was around the time when everyone expected Florida State to start climbing the ranks in the recruiting race. The Seminoles traditionally make their big push in the summer, and it looks like that won't be any different for the 2025 season.
Four-star tight end Chase Loftin committed to FSU over Texas A&M, Nebraska and Missouri on Saturday. With his pledge, the Seminoles have doubled their college candidate list from four to eight in the past week.
Loftin quickly became one of the most promising prospects at his position at Florida State after receiving his offer in January. He visited to observe spring practice in April before returning to Tallahassee for his official visit in June. After visiting Texas A&M and Nebraska to conclude his official visits, the question was whether the Seminoles would be able to poach the talented Midwest recruit.

Ultimately, Lofton decided to transfer to FSU under head coach Mike Norvell and tight ends coach Chris Thomsen. He will need to continue to gain weight and strength at the collegiate level, but he has a very promising skill set. Lofton combines sure handles with the ability to make difficult catches in crowded situations. Additionally, his 6-foot-6 stature gives him great jumping ability for jump balls.
The Seminoles are opening the season at the tight end position, but with only five scholarship players, they're not done yet. FSU remains the top choice for three-star Hollis Davidson, who listed FSU as his top two pick along with Auburn University on Friday.
With Loftin's addition, Florida State now has eight verbal pledges in the #Tribe25, moving up from 57th in the country in pledges to 44th, which is still not where the Seminoles would like to be, but they were in the 70th range a few days ago.
The 6-foot-6, 215-pound tight end is considered the No. 374 overall prospect, No. 19 tight end and the No. 2 recruit in the state of Nebraska in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.
