Florida State has been garnering national attention with its recruiting efforts over the past seven days, and while the Seminoles are once again on the cusp of putting together a top-15 class, the reality is they won't be able to land all of the prospects they covet.
On Monday, four-star linebacker Gavin Nicks announced on social media that he would be attending Miami University instead of Florida State. Nicks was in Tallahassee for his official visit in late June and was listed as a top linebacker prospect.
The Florida native has visited campus twice this year, including last weekend, and has also taken official visits to Miami and Oregon.
While this is certainly a good addition for the Hurricanes, it's not really the end of the world for Florida State. The Seminoles have already landed four-star recruit Ethan Pritchard and are looking to sign four-star recruit Tavion Wallace, who will be announced tomorrow. Wallace will be taking the cut between the Seminoles, Georgia, Florida, Arkansas and South Carolina. Additionally, the coaching staff continues to look at TJ Alford, who has pledged to Ohio State.

Nix is fresh off his junior season at IMG Academy, where he recorded 42 tackles, seven tackles for loss and one sack.
The 6-foot-0, 225-pound linebacker is considered the No. 88 overall prospect in Florida, the No. 11 linebacker and the No. 15 recruit in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.
Florida State has verbally signed nine players in the #Tribe25, ranked 36th in the country. The Seminoles more than doubled their class over the past few weeks, landing four-star defensive tackle Kevin Winn, four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley, four-star defensive tackle Myron Charles, four-star tight end Chase Loftin and four-star defensive back Zay Thomas.
