2024 Sette Colli Trophy
Four Italian swimmers achieved Olympic qualifying times at the Sette Colli Trophy on Sunday, likely punching their tickets to Paris at the last minute.
Matteo Restivo Restivo won the 200m backstroke in a time of 1:57.42, just under the Olympic A-cut of 1:57.50, likely earning him a spot on Italy's Olympic roster. The 29-year-old Restivo holds the Italian record of 1:56.29, set in 2018. Restivo will compete in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where he placed 20th in the 200m backstroke (1:58.36).

Panziera wasn't the only Italian swimmer to achieve anything approaching the Olympic A-cut on Sunday. Francesca Fangio Fangio qualified for the Olympics again after finishing 15th in Tokyo, finishing runner-up in the women's 200m breaststroke in a time of 2:23.91. The 28-year-old holds the national record of 2:23.06 at the 2021 Sette Colli Trophy.
Luca De TullioThe 20-year-old finished second in 14:48.77, breaking into the Olympic qualification zone – nearly six seconds faster than his time of 14:54.31 at the European U-23 Championships last August – and is likely to compete in both the 800m freestyle and 1,500m freestyle in Paris next month after achieving both Olympic qualifying times in Rome this weekend.
