PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A former University of Pittsburgh football player is wanted in connection with a shooting in Clairton.
Allegheny County Police announced in a Facebook post Monday that Paris Ford has been charged in connection with the March 15 incident. Ford was a defensive back at Pitt from 2018 to 2020. The 25-year-old Pittsburgh native attended Steel Valley High School before joining the Panthers.
Allegheny County Police said in a Facebook post that around noon on March 15, authorities received a report of shots fired at a home on Third Avenue in Clairton. Police responded and located the vehicle involved in the shooting. The vehicle was later spotted along Route 51 by Whitehall and Brentwood police officers, who initiated a traffic stop, police said.
When the vehicle stopped, multiple men fled the scene, police said. One person was taken into custody and two others fled the scene in a vehicle, officials said. The vehicle was later spotted in Bethel Park and a pursuit began. Shortly after, police said two men were taken into custody after a driver crashed the vehicle around 12:45 p.m.
After the incident, police said Ford was also involved. Police said they identified the suspect through interviews with witnesses and surveillance video.
“A Ford was seen on surveillance video fleeing the suspect vehicle during the initial traffic stop along Route 51,” police said in a Facebook post.
Two others charged in connection with the shooting are 26-year-old Jaylin Howard and 25-year-old Donye Felton. A third person was taken into custody and released.
Ford faces multiple charges including aggravated assault, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure and recklessly endangering another person. Police say if you know where the Ford is, call the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
