Mike Keenan is not in the Hockey Hall of Fame, but his replacement as coach of the New York Rangers will be.
Colin Campbell was one of seven inductees into the Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2024 announced on Tuesday. He was selected in the Builders category along with former Washington Capitals and Nashville Predators general manager David Poile.
They are joined by five other players, three from the NHL and two female legends: two-time Stanley Cup champion Pavel Datsyuk, former Predators captain Shea Weber and former Chicago Blackhawks star Jeremy Ronick from the NHL. Natalie Darwitz and Christy Wendell Phil were also named.
Campbell will become the 65th member of the Hockey Hall of Fame with ties to the Rangers. Henrik Lundqvist was the most recent New York Rangers member to be inducted last fall, with Kevin Lowe being the other member with ties to the organization inducted before him in 2020.

Campbell joined the Rangers as an associate coach when the Blueshirts won the Presidents Trophy in 1991-92. He started the following season in the same position before being named coach of Binghamton of the American Hockey League when that team's coach, Ron Smith, was promoted to New York to replace fired head coach Roger Neilson.
But Campbell returned to New York again in 1993-94, this time as an assistant coach under Keenan. The Rangers again won the Presidents Trophy, with Campbell playing a key role as the go-between for the mercurial Keenan and the players.
Campbell won his only Stanley Cup in 1994 when the Rangers ended a 54-year winless streak.
Following the Cup win, Campbell was promoted to head coach of the Rangers after Keenan left the team in the midst of a troubled divorce. He took over for the strike-shortened 1995 season and remained in charge until he was fired during the 1997-98 season and replaced by John Muckler.
Campbell managed the Rangers in 269 games with a record of 118 wins, 108 losses and 43 ties. He led the Rangers to three consecutive Stanley Cup playoff appearances, including an appearance in the Eastern Conference finals in 1997.
After being fired as coach of the Rangers, Campbell joined the NHL league office and has worked in various roles since then, currently serving as the NHL's executive vice president and general manager of hockey operations.
Prior to joining the Blueshirts, Campbell played 636 NHL games as a defenseman with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Colorado Rockies, Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings, and also served as an assistant coach with the Red Wings.
Campbell's son, former NHL player and current assistant general manager of the Florida Panthers, won the Stanley Cup within 24 hours of the Hockey Hall of Fame announcement, creating a golden 24-hour window for the Campbell family.
