Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid recently returned from an extended injury absence. Embiid, who was a front-runner for MVP before his injury, hopes he can get back to form and help the 76ers reach the postseason.
On a recent episode of Gills Arena, former NBA star and Memphis Grizzlies guard Gilbert Arenas shared a strong message for Embiid, saying:
“We don't care what's wrong with your knee. If you're not the average age of 36 and 20, we don't care about your knee… We’re not doing you a favor.’ There’s no doubt about it. we don't care. No one cares. Don't go out and play injured to prove you're injured. Be healthy and full or sit down. 50% is bullshit “That only works against coaches. Fans, media, and opposing teams will never listen to that excuse. So what's your advantage?…If not a championship, then why not?” Are you injured and in danger?'' Tweak something to get your summer going. That would be the stupidest thing you could do. ”
Arenas believes if Embiid isn't 100% healthy, he shouldn't play. The way Arenas sees it, Embiid will have no excuses if the 76ers are eliminated early in the postseason. Embiid and the 76ers, of course, want to make sure they make the playoffs.
