Former Hononega Indian wrestler Corey “Overtime” Anderson has achieved his dream. Bellator PFL MMA (mixed martial arts) champion. On Friday, March 22, 2024, he entered Carl Moore's backyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland to win the Bellator PFL light heavyweight title by unanimous decision.
Anderson used his strong wrestling background from Hononega High School and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater to ground and pound Moore in a five-round fight.
The match took place on the field and along the cage. Anderson was able to easily control Moore once he was on his feet. During the match, Moore continued to support his weight and positioned his body in such a way as to try to create space, but Anderson continued to move forward, determined to win his first world title.
With the win, Anderson is now 18-6-0 with eight knockouts and 10 decisions, including Friday's title bout.
He won a unanimous decision over Carl Moore in Friday's title match, 49-46, 49-46, and 50-45.
Anderson is fighting out of Kennel Fight Club in Springfield, Illinois., His hometown is Lockton, Illinois. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound MMA world champion spoke about the possibility of moving up in weight class if he needs to find his best match in the future.
The former Hononega Indian wrestler finished third at the IHSA Championships in high school before moving on to a wrestling and mixed martial arts career in college.
