U.S. District Judge Sarah E. Pytlik on Tuesday sentenced a former youth hockey coach to 75 years in prison for sexually abusing two boys and recording the abuse on video.
James R. Lambert, 42, of Lake St. Louis, sexually abused the victim more than 50 times between 2007, when the victim was six years old, and 2018. The sexual abuse took place in St. Charles County, Missouri, as well as other states and foreign countries where Lambert took the victim. Lambert recorded his sexual abuse of the victim on multiple occasions.
Lambert also admitted to sexually abusing a second victim, who was between the ages of 6 and 9, in St. Charles and St. Louis counties.
Assistant US Attorney Gillian Anderson said Lambert demonstrated a “psychopathic level” of behaviour in manipulating his victims to keep them from disclosing their abuse and “true sadism” towards the children.
After the first victim came forward, investigators discovered hundreds of files on Lambert's electronic devices documenting the abuse of the second victim, as well as at least 1,185 files containing child sexual abuse material that Lambert had obtained online.
Lambert pleaded guilty in February to two counts of production of child pornography, one count of transporting a minor across state lines to commit a sex offense, one count of receiving child pornography and one count of aggravated sexual abuse.
This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the Lake St. Louis Police Department, the St. Charles County Cyber Crimes Task Force, and the Maryland Heights Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gillian Anderson prosecuted the case.
