BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech Athletic Director Jamie Joss has announced a restructuring of Florida Tech's athletic department, promoting three staff members to strengthen support structures, expand leadership roles and foster stronger communication and organizational vertical leadership within the department.

“Promoting these three dedicated staff members marks a vital step for Florida Tech athletics. It will allow me to devote more time to corporate and personal philanthropy and expand our resources to develop our athletes into scholars, champions and leaders who exceed expectations academically, athletically and in the community.”
Jen Mercurio will transition from her role as associate athletic director/senior women’s administrator for NCAA compliance and scholar-athlete services to the role of associate athletic director.
In her new role, she will be responsible for the athletic directorships of women's soccer, softball, men's rowing and men's and women's swimming. Mercurio will continue to oversee NCAA compliance and scholar-athlete services. Additionally, as the senior women's administrator, Mercurio will represent Florida Tech on various conference committees and help oversee and support Title IX and gender equity initiatives.

Tara Van Ness, associate athletic director for business operations, has been promoted to senior associate athletic director. Van Ness will continue to oversee business operations for Florida Tech Athletics and oversee volleyball, baseball, men's cross country and track.

Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Communications Christina Hardman will expand her role within the department to become associate athletic director for external operations, where she will have direct oversight of Florida Tech's athletic communications department, game operations, promotions and community engagement.
