The spring practice season is in full swing as Billy Napier and his Florida football program begin their preseason journey for the 2024 season, which begins with a home game against the Miami Hurricanes on August 31st.
Of course, there's still a game for the Orange and Blue in mid-April and a summer's worth of training ahead. Plus, there are still countless questions to answer during the spring season.
CBS Sports' Will Backus recently looked at all 16 schools in the Southeastern Conference and provided must-answer questions for the Gators during the spring practice schedule.
Who is leading the attack?
“Florida coach Billy Napier was adamant in February that he wanted to protect his offensive play-calling responsibilities,” Backus began. “However, he made changes to his offensive staff this offseason and clearly indicated that some duties would change.
“The Gators have promoted tight ends coach Russ Callaway to co-offensive coordinator,” he continued. “He has a history as a play-caller at Sanford, and there are early indications that he will help shape Florida's passing game. Rob Sale is back as offensive coordinator, but it's mostly in name. He has a higher title and is more directly involved in the development of the offensive line.
“Maybe Florida is integrating a system where Napier has the final say on the actual play, but he relies more on his assistants for in-game input. Whatever it is, the spring… This is the perfect time to fix that structure before what is a crucial season for Napier,” Backus concluded.
