HOUSTON – The Southland Conference on Thursday morning released an updated football schedule, modifying previously announced games for all conference members following the announcement that Stephen F. Austin will join the league in 2024-25.
HCU's previously announced non-conference schedule remains unchanged, with trips to SMU, UTSA and Indiana State, plus home games against Tarleton State and Louisiana Christian University.
The Huskies will begin the SLC game under head coach Jason BachelThe team will open their home game against the McNeese Cowboys on October 5th at 6pm, followed by a home game against Southeastern on October 12th at 2pm.
The following week is an off week for the team before traveling to Nacogdoches, Texas to take on newcomer Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, October 26. The following weekend, the Huskies will travel to San Antonio, Texas to take on UIW on November 2 before returning to Husky Stadium to host defending SLC champion Nicholls on Homecoming on November 9 at 2 p.m.
HCU will then close the season on the road against Texas A&M-Commerce in Commerce, Texas on November 16th at 1pm before playing its season finale against Northwestern State on its home turf on November 23rd at 2pm.
The Huskies finished the 2023 season with a 6-5 overall record and a 4-3 record against SLC, marking their first winning season. The 2023 season also saw the production of HCU's first third-round draft pick. Jarix Hunt.
