With the rookie draft in full swing, fantasy managers will be presented with a variety of rankings to help them understand which players to evaluate with each pick.
While these rankings are helpful, it's rare to find a detailed guide on how to evaluate offense and IDP combined in a rookie draft. This is exactly what this draft committee aims to provide.
- Offensive scores are based on standard PPR and starting roster requirements of 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, and 3 FLEX.
- The IDP position is a “true position” setting and is based on the starting roster requirements of 2-EDGE, 1-2-DT, 2-3-LB, 2-Safety, and 2-CB.
The following IDP rankings are based on the scores listed below.
position | solo tackle | assist | bag | tackle for loss | QB hit | Split path |
ED/DT | 2.5 | 1.25 | Four | 1 | 2 | 2 |
lb | 1.5 | 0.75 | Four | 1 | 1 | 2 |
CB/S | 2 | 1 | Four | 1 | 1 | 2 |
1.01 – 1.03: In a single quarterback format, the top three picks should be pretty chalky, just like they were before the draft. Betting on talent rather than first-year landing spot is a more effective process for a dynasty, and these three offer elite upside in terms of long-term NFL potential.
1.04 – 1.07: Outside of the top three, things start to change, at least a little bit. There's a debate between Worthy, Thomas Jr., Bowers, and even Brooks as to who comes first.
1.08 – 1.10: The next grouping of players in this range offers even more variety and opportunities for the following groupings: caleb williams Stepping down from committees to help those in need. Both McConkie and Benson were drafted a little late compared to players ranked ahead of him in this range, but there's potential talent and opportunity here that's worth taking a gamble on.
1.11 – 2.01: The starting defenseman, Latu plays on the edge of the first and second rounds. Depending on the scoring, the team's needs, and the potential of offensive players in this range, Latu could certainly be an option to start in the second round as the most talented pass rusher in the class.
2.02 – 2.05: If Ratu steps down from the board, the floodgates for internally displaced people are likely to open. Both Vaas and Turner could be in line for the No. 2 spot on the IDP manager's draft committee behind Latu. Barth has the advantage here because he is more NFL-ready at the moment, but Turner could take more time to become a consistent IDP starter.
2.06 – 2.11: Yes There are only a few other defensemen worth considering through the rest of the second round, and they're both at premium positions and have first-round capital. byron murphy When defensive tackle chop robinson At the edge. Again, defensive linemen may not be as valuable as linebackers depending on scoring, but they are valuable in this format, and defensive tackles are also separated into their own positions.
2.12 – 3.01: Linebackers enter the conversation late in the second round and early in the third round of rookie drafts because not necessarily a lot of draft money was spent on them, but both junior colson and edgerine cooper Land a great opportunity with the potential to produce in the very near future, if not immediately.
3.02 – 3.06: troy franklinMy personal ranking at this position has dropped about 10 spots due to my loss in the draft, but a good landing and reunion with my former college quarterback gives me hope. bo nicks, He helped him collect the sixth-most receiving yards in the FBS last season.
3.07 – 3.11: Jah Zhan (Johnny) Newton He didn't necessarily get the best landing spot, though, as there were clearly two starters ahead of him on the depth chart. Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne, one of the best teams at that position in the league. Newton is a strong candidate at his position and should be a late-third-round option in the format required by DTs.
3.12 – 4.02: Peyton WilsonAlthough his failure in the draft (as a result, he was selected at the end of the third round) was mainly due to his long injury history, there is a possibility that he will be on the field as PFF's LB1 heading into the draft. He deserves to be LB1. Among late rookie draft picks.
4.03 – 4.08: Cole Bishop He was the second safety taken in the NFL Draft, but is probably the more interesting prospect for the IDP. tyler nubin, Because Bishop's experience and production near the line of scrimmage is exactly what we're looking for to produce consistent fantasy production from that position.
Darius Robinson He also falls into this range as a player who is more likely to play inside than on the edge in the NFL. He was certainly drafted in the first round by the Arizona Cardinals and will have a chance to produce, but his pass rush metrics from college haven't been all that encouraging. This includes his career PFF pass rush score of 79.9 points (44th place). His 11.2% win rate and 9.6% pressure rate are both numbers below his 20th percentile among post-2016 prospects.
4.09 – 5.03: Nubin is the first safety in the NFL Draft and is considered a deep safety option that won't have much value for the IDP, but it should at least get him on the field for the Giants, and their thin depth It is a chart.
5.04 – 6.01: Here, the first cornerback comes off the board in the fifth round. Javon Bullard Can play safety or nickel corner green bay packerswho Potentially having to use him in multiple roles makes him the most interesting of the bunch.
Cooper Dejean Assuming he continues to play a traditional corner role, he will take the more difficult path of taking first-year snaps and coming off a torn ACL. philadelphia eaglesBut he can also be used in different ways, making him interesting for IDPs.
6.02 – 6.09: There are also promising linebacker sleepers like Tyris Knight. Jordan McGee and jeremiah trotter jr.landing on defense isn't an impossible path to snaps, whether this year or next, but Day 3 capital could be a real possibility, especially if these teams continue to add at the position next offseason. It's far from a guarantee.
6.10 – 7.04: Most rookies in the IDP by filling out the final round by acquiring Villa at 3-day running back or a potential first-year contributor at a low-value defensive position. The draft will end. This year remains the same as we address potential deep safety measures, including: camren kinchens or karen blockor throw a dart at the RB later in the round. Dylan Laubeteam roster construction and perceived benefits should help guide fantasy managers here.
7.05 – 7.12: Continue to throw more darts here to complete the 7th round. There are a few names that cornerbacks and IDP managers might be interested in. Marist Reforwas drafted by. dallas cowboys In the third round, I feel he has more potential to be an NFL linebacker than an IDP. His career numbers out of college have been truly disappointing, with him ranking among the lowest in his class in first contact percentage (6.2%), run stop percentage (4.7%), and tackling efficiency (7.8%).
