RALEIGH, N.C. (April 22, 2024) – Need help paying for college? The first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Wake Tech is here to help.
The university will hold FAFSA Day on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Building C on the Scott Northern Wake Campus and Building L on the Southern Wake Campus.
Students seeking federal aid must complete the FAFSA each year. This process is free, and the information provided can help students qualify for federal and state aid, as well as other financial aid programs, such as the Next NC Scholarship.
Next NC Scholarships are available to help North Carolina students from households with incomes of $80,000 or less pursue higher education at one of the state's 58 community colleges or 16 public universities. Eligible community college students are guaranteed at least $3,000, which covers most, if not all, of their tuition. Scholarships can also be used to pay for tuition and books. Money does not need to be paid back.
On FAFSA Day, students can receive assistance from Financial Aid Office staff and get answers to common financial aid questions. Her 2024-25 FAFSA includes numerous changes and enhancements to streamline the application process, reduce questions and barriers, and expand eligibility.
Students are encouraged to register for FAFSA Day in advance so that financial aid staff can prepare assistance. It is also recommended that you complete your Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) before FAFSA Day. The student and spouse or parents must bring the 2022 federal tax return and her W-2.
Ann Guevremont, Wake Tech's director of financial aid, said all students are required to complete the FAFSA.
“Eligible students leave discretionary money on the table every year, so why not?” Guevremont says. “Complete the FAFSA and discover your potential eligibility for a variety of opportunities. You never know what you may qualify for.”
