Indiana University sophomore Kel'El Ware announced on Instagram Tuesday that he will declare for the 2024 NBA Draft and forgo his remaining college eligibility after one season with the Hoosiers.
Ware averaged 15.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, and 1.5 assists while shooting 58.6 percent from the field in 30 games and was named to the All-Big Ten second team. He was one of only two players in the conference to average at least 15 points and nine rebounds (Zach Eady, Purdue).
The 7-footer led the Big Ten in rebounding percentage (26.0) and was second in rebounds, field goal percentage and double-double percentage (15). He was 5th in blocks and 12th in points.
Ware played his freshman year at Oregon before transferring to Indiana. He started the season as a first-round draft pick, but after a shaky season, he decided to enter the transfer portal and transfer to Bloomington.
After a strong year, he is now considered a mid-to-late first-round pick. He impressed in a larger role with his ability to rebound and block shots, showing some floor spacing as he shot 42.5% from 3-point range on 1.3 attempts per game.
Ware plans to use his size and ability to provide frontcourt versatility to a team that drafts him in the first round. He will be able to showcase himself in front of the team during workouts, and the draft will be held from May 12th to May 19th in Chicago, Illinois.
