The Quinnipiac men's hockey team is also in the postseason. The Bobcats are in the NCAA Tournament looking to defend their championship title, and fans can't wait to see them in action in the postseason.
“I grew up playing hockey and watching hockey, so to be honest, it’s really exciting because this is our school,” freshman Ella Berry said.
The campus was quiet on Good Friday, but the cheering for the men's hockey team spoke volumes.
“I'm very proud to be a Quinnipiac fan. It's always fun to watch,” freshman Thomas Tuheny said.
There are high expectations not only for the postseason, but also for the possibility of winning consecutive championships.
“I'm really looking forward to it,” said freshman Katarina Wentzel, “because I went to a lot of games with my best friend this semester.”
“I think Quinnipiac has a pretty good chance. We just won the national championship last year, so I think our players definitely know how to accomplish that,” Tuheny said.
“This is a great community, especially with a great hockey team,” sophomore DJ Carfora said.
“There's a lot of energy around, and there's always a lot of people talking about it,” Berry said.
Catching the team on the ice is a hot ticket.
“I can see everyone's excited, you know what I mean? Everyone's going to go,” Wentzel said.
“It's really great to go to the game. It's really competitive and we're playing a lot of good teams,” Carfora said.
Christian Leyden is hopeful, but said the team may not be able to break out of the four-team freeze. Either way, Bobcat pride remains.
“We're going to come back even better next season and win the title again.”
