The Esports Federation of India (ESFI) on Friday opened registrations for the National Esports Championship 2024 (NESC24), a qualifier for the highly-anticipated esports event to be held at the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Bangkok and Chonburi, Thailand.
Organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), the 6th AIMAG will feature 36 sports and two demonstration sports. The 6th AIMAG esports events, which have been elevated to full-fledged medal sports, will all be held in Chonburi, Thailand.
The event will take place in Central Sriracha from November 23 to 28 and will feature three mobile titles: Mobile Legends Bang Bang (Women's division, team event), Arena of Valor (Open division, team event) and eFootball (Open division, individual event).
With AOV and MLBB banned in India, India will only be competing in the mobile division of eFootball.
NESC24 will take place as an online event in the first week of August (with the quarter-finals onwards being streamed live on our YouTube channel), offering Indian players the opportunity to showcase their skills in the eFootball mobile title.
The selected players will train at the venue ahead of the continental tournament.
Commenting on the upcoming NESC24, Lokesh Suji, Director of ESFI and Vice President of the Asian Esports Federation (AESF), said: “The upcoming Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Thailand underscores the growing importance of esports in multi-sport events. The elevation of esports from a demonstration event to a fully-fledged medal event within the short span between the two tournaments is further proof of that.”
“Through NESC24, we will select the best Indian players in eFootball Mobile who are best equipped to win medals on the continental stage and bring glory to the country. We expect a competitive qualification field and look forward to seeing the country's top players in action.”
The sixth AIMAG will kick off on November 21, two days before the start of the esports event, and run until November 30, 2024. The eFootball mobile division will host group stage matches on November 23 and 24, followed by playoffs on November 26 and the final gold medal round on November 27.
-Registration for NESC24 is open now and will close on July 31, 2024. Online qualifiers will take place in the first week of August. For more information about the event, please visit ESFI's Discord server at discord.gg/esfi.
