Recruiting is full of surprises, both good and bad.
Florida State made a shocking decision on Tuesday night when four-star linebacker Tavion Wallace committed to Arkansas over the Seminoles, Georgia and Florida. This was quite unexpected as the Bulldogs, Gators and Florida State were expected to be the front-runners to land Wallace.
Wallace took official visits with all four prospects in recent weeks. He's been a familiar face at Florida State since the start of the new year and is a player the program has been pursuing since receiving a scholarship offer in March of 2023.
This is a big loss for Florida State, as Wallace was the top undecided linebacker on the recruiting board. The program missed out on four-star recruits Zydrius Rainey-Sale (Washington) and Gavin Nix (Miami) on Monday but is still in the running to land four-star recruit TJ Alford (Ohio State).

A Georgia native, Wallace is fresh off a junior season in which he led Wayne County High School to a playoff appearance and recorded 58 tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and three pass deflections. He also competed in track and field, running 10.61 seconds in the 100-meter sprint and 22.44 seconds in the 200-meter sprint. Wallace is the younger brother of former Kentucky star and current Carolina Panthers linebacker Trevin Wallace.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker is considered the No. 36 overall prospect in the state of Georgia, the No. 3 linebacker and the No. 8 recruit in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.
Florida State has nine verbal commitments to the #Tribe25, ranked 36th in the country.
