In addition to a ton of additions to existing classes, the Elden Ring: Shadows of the Eld Tree DLC adds eight new weapon types to the award-winning open-world ARPG. Of these, particularly interesting are the hand-to-hand weapons, which essentially turn the Tarnished into skilled hand-to-hand combatants. While I didn't use them much before writing my review of the expansion, I've been testing them since then and so far they've proven to be solidly powerful and, more importantly, extremely It's fun to build. Who needs swords and spells when you can kill bosses with kicks and palm strikes?
in front you To play Kung Fu Souls, however, you'll need to get past the DLC's starting area and complete a short NPC quest, and our guide below will tell you everything you need to know about this process so you can get your hands on your first melee weapon.
Elden Ring DLC: How to Get Dry Leaf Arts Weapons
There are two different options in the Elden Ring DLC Hand-to-Hand, but the one you can get the quickest is the Dryleaf Arts weapon. Here's how to get it:
Get the Monk's Letter
First, you'll need to pick up the Monk's Letter, which can be found beside Mikela's Cross at the Grace's Highroad Cross Site, south of Skadu Artas. (A vast area in the center of the Shadow Realm.) There are two ways to get to this area and this land of blessings, which we will explain below.
- A shorter route is through Castle Ensis, a large fortress located on the edge of the Gravesite Plains to the northeast across the Erac Bridge. To reach Skadu Altas, however, you'll need to defeat the Twin Moon Knights Lelana boss. Once defeated, you'll find the Blessed Lands and Mykera's Cross just outside the castle exit.
- There is also a slightly hidden route from the Grace Castle Foreland (just in front of Ensis Castle) heading southeast, then down a sloping path into the Toxic Swamp. Once in the swamp, head as far east as you can to find a Spirit Spring along the cliffs. Break a nearby rock formation to “unlock” it, then use it to jump with Torrent. Once you land, use the second Spirit Spring nearby to jump to Reprimand Fort. From here, fight or run through it until you reach the fort's main gate, then head northwest.
The Monk's Letter is one of the rare purple items found here (The other is a fragment of a Scada tree). Picking it up also gives you a “May the best win” gesture — you'll need it soon — and, reading the inventory note, It's from a monk in the East who wants to challenge you..
How to Fight Dry Leaf Dane
Return to Trent and head east to find NPC Monk Dryleaf Dane, one of Mikela's followers, next to another Mikela Cross and the Blessed Site of Moose Ruins. (If you've used the secret method to get to Scadu Altus, you may have already seen these.) He's the man you're looking for.
Since Mr. Dane won't talk to you, you can't start a duel that way. However, Make a “may the best win” gesture in front of him and he will fight you.Doing this will put you into combat mode. He deals a lot of damage with each attack, but has low health due to being lightly clothed. In my experience, The best way to kill him is with a heavy weapon with long range..
If you win the duel, you'll be teleported to the Place of Blessings in the Moore Ruins, where you'll find the Dry Leaf Arts weapon, the Danes Hat armor, and another note from the Dane himself. So now we have our first melee weapon, which scales entirely with Strength and Dexterity as is, but is infusable so you can customize it to fit whatever best Elden Ring build you're using.
