The unpredictable Garcia: From ring departures to bites
Hearn sees a number of strange possibilities involving Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) and believes he could jump out of the ring and run away during the fight. He also thinks Ryan could turn into a “crazy man” and try to hurt Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) in some way and even bite him.
Hearn believes Ryan will be stronger because he didn't push as hard to make weight as Haney, who nearly died at Friday's weigh-in. Ryan didn't look as lean as Haney at 143.2 pounds, 3.2 pounds over the 140-pound limit.
Of course, Haney has an enormous amount of fluid intake compared to Ryan, so it's no wonder he looks like he's about to die. Hearn didn't want to discuss the topic, but Haney is too heavy to compete at light welterweight, so he should consider moving up to 147.safely
What are the benefits of being lighter?
“I know how hard he worked those last 3 1/2 pounds. Devin was making weight, so he could have worked harder,” promoter Eddie Hearn says Ryan Garcia will be playing tonight's Devin Haney He spoke to Box Nation about his failure to make weight for the fight.
“When you're in shape and others aren't going through it, you're at a physical disadvantage,” Hearn continued about why Ryan was unable to make weight.
As long as Haney fights in a weight class that suits him, it's no big deal. Yeah, Ryan didn't kill himself to drop those last three pounds, but the only reason he has an advantage is because Haney is cutting him down from 165 pounds.
As long as Haney fights in the weight class that suits him, he'll be fine. He should be at junior middleweight.
“So he's going to get stronger, he's going to get bigger, and he's going to be dangerous,” Hearn said of Ryan Garcia. “I don't know what's going to happen. What I believe is that Devin has to stay calm and educate this guy and punch him and he'll sit in the chair and quit.” I am.
A night of hidden possibilities
“I think he'll be a little nervous. I believe he will [Haney] Exhaust him, chastise him, and cause him to fall apart. All you have to do is look at Ryan Garcia and say, “He can do anything.'' During this match, he could have gotten out of the ring and walked away.
“Wouldn't that surprise you? Something wild would happen in Brooklyn,” Hahn said.
