All I know is that Auburn's Cam Newton will need to take some time off once he's released in EA College Football 25.
EA has finally revealed one of the final details for College Football 25: the structure of its Ultimate Team.
Yes, according to a detailed blog published Tuesday, the game will feature NFL legends as alumni wearing their college uniforms.
Card images of Ray Lewis of the Miami Hurricanes and Joey Bosa of the Ohio State Buckeyes were seen, along with textual references to the college versions of Patrick Mahomes, Davante Adams, Christian McCaffrey, Josh Allen, CeeDee Lamb, Stefon Diggs and Joe Burrow.
Although Newton wasn't a revealed legendary card, his card might inspire me to spend more time in a mode that isn't usually my top priority.
Below you will find a summary of the best information about CUT.
How do I get started with CUT?
Once you pick your favorite school, you'll see “some familiar names,” likely a mix of players from the current team and players who have attended the school in the past.
Challenges and goals
CUT doesn't reinvent the collector mode wheel with its features.
Similar to Madden Ultimate Team, players can complete challenges and objectives to earn rewards such as packs, player items, and coins.
According to the blog, the game will be released with over 100 challenges, with some re-runs being offered in an “ICYMI” tab to give late-joining players a second chance to earn the rewards that come with the challenges.
market place
In CUT, users can earn coins by completing challenges, or of course by purchasing them with real money, which allow users to purchase packs and other items from the marketplace.
The Auction House will also be returning, allowing users to use their coins to purchase cards of specific players.
Team Chemistry is Part of CUT
At CUT, chemistry is based on several different categories, schools (134), and offensive and defensive schemes.
If you run a ball-control offense, you'll need player cards that complement that playbook, and the same goes for pass-heavy offenses and different defensive schemes.
The more player cards you have that match a scheme in your playbook, the bigger the attribute boost you'll get, and Trials give you the opportunity to test out different schemes to see which one best suits your style and current set of player cards.
Thousands of cards
There will be a large number of cards available in CUT, all of which will be given an overall rating and categorized by the following rarities:
- General – Grey
- rare – green
- rare – Blue
- amazing – purple
- Legendary – Money
These cards have unique abilities that increase a player's effectiveness on the virtual field, and you can see this information by flicking the right stick and looking at the back of the card.
Abilities in CUT are the same as those in the base game, and are split into the same two categories: mental and physical.
Users will be able to train their cards to add abilities, or acquire cards that already have those abilities.
program
New content will be introduced throughout the program, with Ultimate Alumni, which will also be available to customers who pre-order, being one of the first to be released.
It works exactly as the name suggests, with EA unveiling a slate of player cards that will be part of the series, and these cards can be unlocked by playing moments modeled after the best moments players have had on the college field.

New Ways to Play
CUT will introduce a new game mode to EA's Collector Mode catalogue called “Solo Seasons.”
Users can play Ultimate Team against AI opponents in a season format, which is very similar to the mini-seasons of MLB The Show's Diamond Dynasty.
If a user achieves 5-0 during the season, they will qualify for the playoffs and can compete in the championship to win rewards. This system is repeatable and will always be an option for CUT users.
There will also be a PvP version of the season called H2H Season, and a Co-Op version called Squads Regular Season.
Another new game mode is Gauntlet, another PvP mode that pits users against opponents online and challenges them to win 10 times before losing twice.
The setup is similar to Diamond Dynasty's Battle Royale, but there's no draft before the action: challenges begin every Friday and refresh the following Thursday.
CUT has one other game mode.
House Rules will allow users to play online games that subvert the traditional rules of football, and EA will be releasing Touchdown Tango and Overtime at launch.
Below are the details of both house rule provisions, as published on EA's blog:
- Touchdown Tango – 25 yards for a first down and a 14 point touchdown. Score 28 points and grab a win right away. Keep winning and ICYMI you get the player and the pack.
- over time – Play against other players in the college football classic overtime. Each team has one drive to score a touchdown or field goal until neither can match up. The team with the highest score wins.
While Ultimate Team isn't my favorite way to play Madden and it doesn't beat out College Football 25's Dynasty Mode, it sounds like a fully fleshed out feature that would be very profitable for EA.
College Football 25 will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on July 19th, and for pre-order customers on July 16th.
