The Ducks signed defenseman Jackson Lacombe to a two-year contract that runs through the 2025-26 NHL season.
Lacombe (age 23, January 9, 2001) appeared in 71 games with Anaheim in his first NHL season in 2023-24, recording 2-15=17 points and 24 penalty minutes (PIM), ranking seventh in assists and eighth in points among Ducks rookie defensemen. He scored his first career NHL goal at San Jose on January 20, 2024, and earned his first career NHL point (assist) on October 15, 2023 against Carolina. Lacombe made his NHL debut with Anaheim on April 11, 2023 against Vancouver and played a total of two games with the Ducks after completing his collegiate career in the 2022-23 season.
The 6'2″, 200 pound defenseman appeared in 140 NCAA games with the University of Minnesota (Big Ten) from 2019-23, recording 19-80=99 points, a +53 rating and 47 PIM. Drafted by Anaheim in the second round (39th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft, Lacombe appeared in 37 games as a senior for Minnesota in 2022-23, recording a career-high 9-26=35 points, a +12 rating and helping the Golden Gophers to an NCAA Championship Game appearance. Among NCAA defensemen in 2022-23, he ranked tied for third in points, tied for seventh in assists and tied for eighth in goals.
LaCom led Minnesota defensemen in points (3-27=30) and appearances (39) as a junior in 2021-22 and tied for eighth among NCAA defensemen in points (4-17=21) and ranked fifth in assists as a sophomore in 2020-21. As a freshman in 2019-20, he recorded 3-10=13 points in 37 games and was named to the Big Ten All-Rookie Team. The Eden Prairie, Minnesota native helped Team USA win a gold medal at the 2021 World Junior Championships, recording one assist in six tournament games.
