The Ducks have signed defenseman Rodwin Dionisio to a three-year entry-level contract starting with the 2024-25 NHL season.
Dionisio, 20 years old (March 30, 2004), played in 60 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) games with Windsor and Saginaw in the 2023-24 season, recording 25 wins, 48 losses, and 73 points, giving him 25 points in the past 10 seasons. One of nine OHL defensemen to reach that mark in one season. He ranked second among all OHL defensemen during the season in goals, third in points, and points per game (1.22). Since he was acquired by Saginaw on November 16, 2023, he has accumulated 20-33 = 53 points and a +24 rating in 44 games. His 40 goals over the past two OHL seasons are tied for second among all OHL players behind Zane Parekh (54 goals).
The 6-2, 205-pound defenseman led OHL defensemen in points (5-12), goals and assists through the first three rounds of the 2024 OHL Playoffs. He paced Saginaw's defense in points, goals and assists and led all Spirit skaters in points and assists.
Drafted by Anaheim in the fifth round (129th overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft, Dionisio played in 167 OHL regular season games, scoring 46-108 = 154 points and earning a +4 rating. He also scored 6-12 = 18 points in his 19 career OHL playoff contests. In the 2022-23 season, Dionisio totaled 15 wins, 35 losses, and 50 points in 50 games between Niagara and Windsor. After acquiring Windsor, he recorded 11 wins, 32 losses, and 43 points in 33 games, leading the club's blue liners in points, goals, and assists.
Dionisio, who was born in Newark, New Jersey and raised in Switzerland, has represented Switzerland in numerous international tournaments, including three consecutive World Junior Championships (2022, 2023, 2024) and the U-18 World Championship in 2021. At the 2024 World Junior Championship, he recorded 2-2=4 points in five tournament matches.
