For the first time since their infamous in-cage exchange nearly a year ago, Dricus du Plessis and Israel Adesanya came face-to-face at the UFC 305 launch press conference on Tuesday in Australia.
Du Plessis (21-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) will make his first middleweight title defense against former champion and rival Adesanya (24-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) in the main event on Aug. 17 at RAC Arena in Perth (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+).
A heated exchange following du Plessis' TKO victory over Robert Whittaker at UFC 290 in July 2019 foreshadowed some of the remarks made at the press conference, with comments about race and heritage continuing to set the tone for the 185-pound title fight.
The intensity between the two teams continued into the head-to-head match after the press conference, which can be seen in the video above.
