1. Earlier this week, news broke that NBC offered the NBA $2.5 billion to steal game packages from TNT (aka Warner Bros. Discovery) when its current television contract expires after next season.
The game's “A” package will continue at ABC/ESPN, but Amazon is expected to get the “C” package in the new TV deal, according to Pack senior correspondent John Uhland.
appears in the latest episode of. SI Media and Jimmy Traina Ourand said on the podcast that despite such a monster offer, it's by no means certain that NBC will get the “B” package from TNT.
“I'm very positive about Warner Bros. Discovery's chances of retaining the NBA,” Orlando said.
“I know they prioritize the NBA. I think a big part of why TNT and TBS are taking so much money from cable and satellite operators is because their I know it's an NBA deal. I know the idea that they've had the NBA since the 1980s, it's part of the company's DNA. I mean, even though the management team hasn't been around that long. It's just a matter of what kind of company it is. I believe WBD will do whatever it takes to keep the NBA.”
Ourand cautioned that negotiations were “fluid” and the situation could change at any time, but also said it was a “huge plus” that WBD had the right to match NBC's offer.
Orlando said he expects the NBA to announce a new television deal in the coming weeks.
In addition to a complete breakdown of the current state of the NBA's negotiations on a new TV deal, Uhland also shares his thoughts on how the new TV deal will impact the future of the NBA. Inside the NBA The crew includes Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Shaquille O'Neal.

2. Earlier this week, I mentioned that Charles Barkley was having an incredible run (even for him) this postseason. It continued on Wednesday, when he went after the people on the Hot Takes show — “punks, idiots, idiots,” as he calls them — who like to act like the Lakers and Warriors are good teams.
3. How pathetic is this? Philadelphia's ownership group had to buy tickets for tonight's Knicks-Sixers game to prevent New York fans from invading the Wells Fargo Center like they did for Game 3 last Sunday. Ta. Therefore, not only does the team have to resort to sad tactics, but also because there are Sixers fans. I'm not going to support their team, but I still had tickets for the game. Double whammy.
Four. Not very exciting, but Sound picked up by Aaron Boone after being thrown by a referee A few weeks ago, I heard another solid audio moment at a Wednesday night baseball game.
After Pete Alonso was ejected at home plate during the Cubs-Mets game, giving Chicago a 1-0 win, New York objected to the play. There were two problems. The two questions are whether Alonso is out and whether Cubs catcher Miguel Amaya illegally blocked his at-bat.
Replays ruled that Alonso was indeed out, but referee Chad Fairchild botched the call with a word salad.
“After reviewing the two calls on the field, a block has been confirmed. There is no block. After review, it is an out call on the field. The runner is out.”
Mets fans cheered when Fairchild said, “The block is confirmed,'' but then Fairchild punched him, telling him that Alonso was out.
This led to the emergence of New York captain Carlos Mendonça, who took on the challenge along with Fairchild.
“I'm not in the replay,” Fairchild said. “I'll tell you what they told me.”
“But the rules say you can't stand at home plate without a baseball,” Mendoza complained.
“I'm not arguing with you, Carlos. But what I'm saying is…”
“That’s a bull—” Mendoza declared.
“Please discuss that with the office,” Fairchild said.
Five. As for the Cubs' win over the Mets, Shota Imanaga pitched seven shutout innings to earn the win and improve to 5-0. It was the first time for the Japanese star to play in New York, and he spoke about his impressions of the Big Apple after the game.
