The Oregon Ducks are pursuing the nation's No. 1 wide receiver, DaCorine Moore, in the class of 2025. The entire nation will be watching as the five-star recruit announces her commitment today, July 4th, at 8pm CST.
Moore, who withdrew his offer from the Louisiana State University Tigers last month, has narrowed his final list to an elite group that includes the University of Oregon, the University of Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State University Buckeyes, while still keeping Louisiana State in the running.
Texas is the heavy favorite to land Moore, with an 89.4 percent confidence score to land the five-star player, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
But Oregon isn't off the table. The Ducks have a connection to Moore that other teams don't: Oregon running backs coach Rashad Samples' father was Moore's high school head coach at Duncanville (Texas).
“I knew him before he really got into college football,” Moore told On3. “Obviously, his dad's my coach, so I know everything his dad taught me is the same thing he taught his son. So I feel like he was well coached and well taught… He's developed into a great person and leader that I can trust. So having him there definitely gave them a little bit of an advantage, but he just got there so you can't judge them just on how their season went or anything like that. He plays a big role, but not too big.”
Moore most recently took an official visit to Oregon on June 21st, and has visited Texas on June 14th, Louisiana State University on June 7th and Ohio State University on May 31st.
Moore is ranked as the No. 3 player in the nation, the No. 1 wide receiver and the No. 1 player in the state of Texas. He is the unanimous No. 1 receiver in the country by all four major recruiting services.
Oregon had a very successful recruiting campaign in June and may be the hottest team in the country right now in terms of recruiting.
Just last week, the Ducks managed to land five-star recruits Jordan Davison and Dorian Belew, as well as four-star talents Josiah Sharma and Dashaan Brame.
Oregon coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks signed six freshmen in June, and the Ducks' 2025 recruiting class has rocketed to No. 5 in On3's national freshman rankings, behind only Ohio State, Alabama, Louisiana State and Georgia.
