Bill Haney blamed Ryan Garcia for failing to sell tickets to WBC light welterweight champion Devin's title defense on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It's a little surprising that Bill is using Ryan as a scapegoat for poor ticket sales.
So far, fans have blamed Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) for the lack of ticket sales. His last match did not sell well in his hometown of San Francisco and only sold 50,000 buys on PPV, indicating that it was not a draw. But it's interesting that Dev's father, Bill Haney, blames Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs).
I don't think we'll know who's to blame for the poor ticket sales until Ryan and Devin's next match begins. If one of the two hasn't sold yet, we'll find out who influenced sales at Saturday's event at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
We know that Devin's match against Regis Prograis last December was a disaster because it didn't sell. If this situation remains the same in the future, DAZN may not reconsider broadcasting Haney's fight on PPV.
Bill Haney slams Garcia's disrespect
“He's the rudest guy we've ever met,” Bill Haney told FightHype about Ryan Garcia. “If you disrespect like that, more will happen to you than just getting slammed. They're getting slammed at the Empire State Building, but it's going to be wiped out on April 20th. Dew.
“Ryan Garcia, you better not run. That's what it is when you're the best in the world and you have boxing on your back,” Bill said, claiming Devin, who has beaten several guys, is the best in the world.
“It's a blessing to us that we have haters like this. It was something the sport needed. The rest of the champions can't bear the weight and scrutiny that comes with the game. The 25-year-old carried it. [Devin Haney] I did what the best didn't do.
Ryan Garcia: Scapegoat for poor sales?
“If we do something that the best people aren't doing, what do we become?'' Bill said riddled. “We're better than the best ever. Those who haven't bought [tickets]I don't know if Ryan is talking about this,'' Bill said, blaming Ryan Garcia for not selling tickets at Barclays Center.
“So what better place to execute a fighter like Ryan than New York? I don't care how many there are. If we do it in New York, it will spread,” Bill said.
