Via Chengelis:
Mike Hart, who served as Michigan's running backs coach for the past three seasons, including the last two seasons as run game coordinator, will return to the Wolverines' staff this season under first-year head coach Sherrone Moore. Two people confirmed to The Detroit News that there is no such thing. .
Hart, whose contract with the University of Michigan expires on Jan. 10, declined to comment when contacted by The Detroit News on Friday. He has no connection to recent recruiting on college football or NFL staffs.
Hart had been away from the program on vacation since winning the national championship. Michigan's running back corps has grown since Hart took the reins, with Hassan Haskins, Blake Collum and Donovan Edwards starring.
With Hart gone, Moore will need to find a replacement on offense, where there has been little attrition on the coaching staff.
Hart, the Maize and Blue's all-time rushing leader, coached at Eastern Michigan, Syracuse and Indiana before returning to Ann Arbor. He served as interim coach for the game against UNLV late in Week 2 of the 2023 season.
