Derrick Jones Jr. is heading to Los Angeles.
According to The Athletic and Stadium's Shams Charania, Jones and the Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to a three-year, $30 million contract as a free agent.
The news comes after it was revealed that Paul George will be leaving the team as a free agent this summer.
Jones can't be a perfect replacement for George, but he could at least help ease the pressure caused by his departure. He's coming off a strong season with Dallas, averaging 8.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1 assist in 23.5 minutes per game.
Jones was a solid contributor as a starter during the Mavericks' Finals run, showed consistent scoring form during both the regular season and playoffs and will look to take it to the next level with the Clippers this year.
After acquiring Jones, Los Angeles still has work to do in free agency this offseason. The Clippers signed Kawhi Leonard to a three-year extension during the regular season and James Harden to a two-year, $70 million contract on Sunday.
Los Angeles is Reportedly Russell Westbrook is looking for a trade after exercising his $4 million player option.
After last year's team was eliminated in the first round, it's reasonable to expect the Clippers will need another player to compete for a championship, and Los Angeles is likely to be active on both the trade and free agent markets in the coming weeks.
