Deiveson Figueiredo vows to knock out the “mentally fragile” Cody Garbrandt at UFC 300.
UFC 300 will take place on Saturday, April 13th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The ticket features former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (22-3 MMA) scheduled to clash with former bantamweight titleholder Cody Garbrandt (14-5 MMA) in a bantamweight bout.
“Diaco” most recently fought Rob Font (20-8 MMA) in December of last year, defeating him by unanimous decision. Prior to that victory, Figueiredo suffered a TKO loss at the hands of Brandon Moreno (21-8 MMA) at UFC 283.
“No Love” is on a two-fight winning streak heading into UFC 300, with his most recent knockout victory coming against Brian Kelleher (24-15 MMA) at UFC 296. Prior to that, Garbrandt defeated Trevin Jones (14-11 MMA) in a bout. UFC 284 in March 2023.
A very confident Deiveson Figueiredo talked about his strategy for the fight against Cody Garbrandt in an interview with MMA Fighting.
“You could tell he was mentally fragile. He wasn't smart. You know he hasn't come back after losing a few times, right? All athletes are afraid of being touched. A lot of fighters like to fight infighting, but they crumble when their hands land on them. You have to be the bad guy and have a strong heart to come back again. If I touch him… I think it will influence his mind, and he will respect me more. I definitely want a knockout in this fight. This fight could lead to the title, so I want to make a good impression. It’s going to be an unbelievable fight.”
