2024 U.S. Olympic Selection
The second of nine days of the U.S. Olympic Trials at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis begins this morning with preliminaries in five events: the men's 200-meter freestyle, 400-meter individual medley, 100-meter backstroke and the women's 100-meter breaststroke and 200-meter freestyle.
Both 200m freestyle events this morning were weighted a little higher because up to six swimmers in the final could qualify for the Olympic relay, and any mistake could cost them a place in the top 16. There were two favorites to win the relay. Bella Sims and Claire WeinsteinAll eyes will be on him as he will miss Saturday's 400m freestyle final.
Carson Foster This morning he will be taking on a tough doubles set of the men's 200m freestyle and 400m individual medley. Foster is looking to solidify his spot in the 200m freestyle and 800m freestyle relay and should comfortably progress to the 400m individual medley final, so it would not be a surprise to see him compete in both events this morning.
Tonight's schedule sees the 400m individual medley take place first, followed by the 200m freestyle semi-finals, with the women's 100m butterfly final sandwiched in between.
The main star of the men's 200m freestyle Luke HobsonHe won a bronze medal in this event at the 2024 World Championships, Aaron Shackel and Kieran Smith Smith qualified for the Olympics in the 400m freestyle last night (Smith has not officially qualified) and will be back swimming again.

David Johnstonwill be looking to bounce back after narrowly missing out on second place in the 400m freestyle last night.
The women's 100m breaststroke will see the performances of the event's two previous Olympic champions. Lily King and Lydia JacobyThese two are the favourites to secure a spot in the finals. Caitlin Dobler On paper, he is the only swimmer with a realistic chance of pulling off an upset.
A similar situation occurred in the men's 100m backstroke. Ryan Murphy and Hunter Armstrong It enjoys overwhelming popularity Justin Les and Destin Lasko Both have recently fallen below 53. Shane Casas He's always one to watch.
This will be Casas' first swim of the tournament. He has more chances to qualify in the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley later in the tournament, but can he pull off a surprise here?
The final event of the morning will be the women's 200m freestyle, and as mentioned at the beginning, Sims and Weinstein will be feeling some pressure to stay on track after their struggles in the 400m freestyle heats.
Katie Ledecky She may eventually withdraw from the tournament, but for now she is the top seed.
