Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs) is a two-time WBC super middleweight champion and current interim WBC super middleweight champion. The unbeaten 27-year-old knocked out David Lemieux to claim the interim title in 2022 and defended the title with consecutive wins over Caleb Plant and Demetrius Andrade in 2023. He will return to light heavyweight against Gvozdyk.
Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KOs) is a former Ukrainian champion who held the WBC light heavyweight title and the lineal light heavyweight title from 2018 to 2019. After losing his belts to Artur Beterbiev, Gvozdyk took a four-year hiatus from boxing but returned in 2023 with three consecutive wins over Jose Obando, Ricardo Bolotnics and Isaac Rodriguez.
Benavidez and Gvozdyk will face off for the interim WBC light heavyweight title.
