Darren Till's first boxing fight was a historic one – and a strange one.
The exhibition boxing match ended with Till landing a punch to the back of the head of his opponent, Mohamed Moutier. After the bout was called off, Moutier lunged at Till and a brawl ensued. Cornermen and promotion officials did their best to quell the mayhem as punches flew.
Ultimately, Till was named the winner.
“First fight is over,” Till wrote on his Instagram Story after the bout, “Thank you for all your support. Not the ending we wanted but some of you are not real fighters. Next fight in 4-8 weeks…”
The bout marks Till's first fight since requesting (and being granted) his release from UFC in early 2023. Till's long-term roadmap is unclear, but for now it appears boxing remains his goal.
In an Instagram post, Till focused on a potential matchup with Nate Diaz, who defeated Jorge Masvidal by 10-round majority decision on Saturday in Anaheim, California.
“Just thinking… I need a real boxing match…” Till wrote.
It's unclear what Diaz's next move will be, but he has said he intends to continue boxing for the time being. Diaz named Jake Paul as a possible next opponent but said he's keeping his options open. Diaz is 1-1 in boxing, losing to Paul in 2023.
