Daniel Dubois is ready to go in and “beat” Filip Hrgovic in his heavyweight bout in a 5-on-5 Riyadh showdown on DAZN PPV on Saturday night.
Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) feels that Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs) is a “simple” fighter, and having studied the 31-year-old Croatian in preparation for this bout, he knows how to beat him.
Hrgovic has largely discounted the 26-year-old Dubois, noting that he doesn't think he has the talent to beat him based on their past sparring experiences. This bout has huge implications for both fighters, as the winner could potentially face Anthony Joshua.
It seems Hrgovic had him in his element and he thinks he can do the same in the real world, as Hrgovic has been on a roll recently with wins over Mark de Mori, Demsey McKean and Jirey Zhang.
“I'm ready for this fight. I know what I'm capable of and I'm going to take advantage of it,” Daniel Dubois told Queensberry about his match against Filip Hrgovic on Saturday night. “I'm performing better this time around.”
“I'm ready for Saturday. I'm coming here to fight. The discussions are over. I feel good and I'm ready. It has to be simple and clear. With this guy it's not complicated.
“I've been in the gym preparing, I've sharpened my weapons and I'm ready to fight. He gets in the way, he keeps bringing up the past. We've sparred in the past but now it's nothing.”
“I'm focused on Saturday and I'm ready to fight. I'm 100 percent focused, I've been training and I'm ready to go out there and beat my opponent. A knockout would be perfect. I'm not going out there looking for anything. It's part of the job. I've trained for it and I'm ready.”
“Frank [Warren] He has been supporting me for a long time. He saw my potential from the beginning. He is one of the best promoters in the world.
“It's something the fans can enjoy. It's going to be really awesome. There's Queensberry, Matchroom and all that stuff but I'm just focused on Saturday,” Dubois said.
