Dana White announced that the UFC will return to England for pay-per-view events in 2024.
UFC CEO Dana White made the announcement on TNT Sports:
“Well, I have the British heavyweight champion and a lot of other European stars, but there are currently two champions coming out of the UK, and that's another thing that happened here recently. There's a team that builds all the different pieces of the puzzle, and then we come along and we start putting the pieces of the puzzle into place and we think, “No, this doesn't apply here, let's not do it anymore.” That's how it all works. ”
Birmingham native Leon Edwards (22-3 MMA) is the current UFC welterweight champion, most recently defeating Colby Covington (17-4 MMA) at UFC 296 in December of this year.
Fellow Brit Tom Aspinall (14-3 MMA) is the current interim heavyweight champion after defeating Sergei Pavlovic (18-2 MMA) by knockout at UFC 295 last November.
Liverpool native Paddy Pimblett (21-3 MMA) is also a rising star in the lightweight division, most recently defeating Tony Ferguson (25-10 MMA) at UFC 296 last December.
Finally, Dana White declared, “We're going to England.”
“There was a lot of fighting going on, like, 'Wait, where are we going to do it?' No, we're going to England. We're going to England. I'm so excited to be back there. I'm looking forward to going back to the UK. I haven't been to the UK for a while so I'm looking forward to getting back there again. We're working on this. We have crazy plans for England. Numbered card buddies, pay-per-view. It's great.”
The official date and location of the promotion will be determined in the coming days.
