The NBA spent the 2021-22 season celebrating the 75th anniversary, including an amazing ceremony at the All-Star Game in Cleveland that brought together most of the surviving members of the 75th anniversary team. As someone who attended, I can safely say it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen, and everyone I know who was there agrees.
All of us who participated had a blast, but the players who made the team had even more fun. Dwyane Wade appeared on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast hosted by Carmelo Anthony and The Kid Melo. Both Wade and Anthony made the team, but Wade admitted, “Even when I made the team, I had no idea what that moment was going to feel like.”
“But as soon as I walked in the room and saw Kareem, Jerry West and Magic, I was like, 'Oh man, I'm on this team,'” Wade recalled.
The two discussed how everyone in the room was talking trash, and Wade said that “everything changed” the moment Michael Jordan walked into the room, and apparently Jordan immediately graded everyone else in the room and made it clear that he was the leader.
“You saw that video of him and Magic going viral,” Wade said. “It happened so quickly. I was just sitting there and I was like, 'I'm listening to Jordan and Magic talking trash.'”
“But don't be so mean,” Anthony interjected.
I swear, I would pay $10,000 for the full video of just the conversation that took place before the ceremony even took place.
