The current iteration of college athletics as a whole does not promote loyalty or consistent rosters. College basketball is currently in the midst of a roster shakeup, much like college football in December, and things will change again once the spring period opens.
Fortunately for Oklahoma State, they return 21 starters for the 2023 college football season. The Cowboys defeated Texas A&M in the Texas Bowl and finished the season with a 10-4 record. This was after starting the season 2-2 with a loss to South Alabama.
Needless to say, the Cowboys figured things out more and more as the season progressed. Their experience will have a huge impact on their performance in the upcoming college football season. They have the second-most returning starters among college football's power conference programs.
247Sports' Cody Nagel beats the power conference programs with the most returning starters.
“Oklahoma State doesn't always take advantage of a roster that has a lot of returning starters from last season. At times, the hype is too much for the Cowboys. But in the 2023 Big 12 Championship Game After a late charge heading into the tournament, the experienced Polk are built to win their first conference title since 2011 again. He heads a long list of returning starters at Oklahoma State,” Nagel wrote.
The most notable returners are on the offensive side of the ball. Alan Bowman returns for his seventh season of college football and will pitch against a dynamic trio of wide receivers. Ollie Gordon is a threat in the backfield and was proven to be the best in the nation at his position a season ago. The attacking team will be united behind the powerful attacking team.
The experienced players and returning players will be a huge opportunity for Oklahoma State, and there are no limits to what they can accomplish in the new Big 12. With 21 starting pitchers returning, coaches know their personnel and how to game plan with them. No excuses for the Cowboys in 2024 college football.
