UFC announced on Monday that a press conference between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, scheduled for later that day in Dublin, was postponed.
The organization did not give a reason for the announcement. The meeting was scheduled to take place at the 3Arena to promote a non-title welterweight bout between McGregor (22-6) and Chandler (23-8) at UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas.
There was no sign that the press conference was in jeopardy when UFC CEO Dana White spoke to media at UFC 302 in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday. White was scheduled to attend the event in Dublin, which was open to the public. Fans were not required to purchase tickets, but all available tickets had been sold out.
McGregor, 35, has not fought since breaking his leg in a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. He is calling his return at UFC 303 “the biggest comeback in the history of the sport,” with White saying the event is on track to become the first in UFC history to surpass $20 million in live gate revenue.
Neither McGregor nor Chandler, who appeared on the reality TV show “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2023 as coaches for opposing teams, have commented on the postponement.
