GROVE CITY — The Grove City College men's soccer team's 2024 schedule will consist of eight home matches and eight road trips.
Head coach Mike Draves will lead the Wolverines in their 85th season. The season begins on Friday, August 30, at 6 p.m. with a home game against Penn State Altoona at Don Lyle Field. The teams met five times in the 2000s but have not met since 2009.
The first week of the regular season features two trips to Ohio, opening on Sept. 4 when Grove City visits Oberlin, resuming a series that has not been played since 1940. Three days later, the Wolverines travel to Granville, Ohio, for a non-conference matchup against Denison, the defending champion of the North Coast Athletic Conference.
Grove City is scheduled to play its first weekday home match of the fall on Sept. 11 when Penn State Behrend visits at 7 p.m., marking the 51st overall meeting between the Western Pennsylvania rivals.
The Wolverines will conclude the road portion of their non-conference play on Saturday, Sept. 14, with a matinee game at Buffalo State at 4 p.m.
Non-conference play will conclude on Wednesday, Sept. 18, when Grove City hosts longtime rival Carnegie Mellon University at 7 p.m. The Grove City vs. CMU series dates back to 1938, when the Grove City men's varsity soccer team was founded.
Grove City will alternate home and away games for the first eight games of the league schedule. Conference play begins on Wednesday, Sept. 25, when the Wolverines host Bethany at 4:30 p.m.
Conference play on the road begins three days later, when Grove City visits Allegheny on Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m. The Grove City-Allegheny series also dates back to 1938. Allegheny is Grove City's most frequent opponent in boys soccer, and this year's matchup will mark the 72nd meeting overall.
The Wolverines return to Don Lyle Field to take on conference foe Geneva on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. A Saturday afternoon game at Teal concludes week two of the conference schedule.
With an open date on the league schedule, the Wolverines will host neighboring Westminster for Homecoming Weekend on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.
The second half of the conference schedule begins on Oct. 16 with Grove City visiting Franciscan.
Grove City will play its first Saturday home game in conference action on Oct. 19 when Chatham visits Don Lyle Field for Senior Day at 3:30 p.m.
Two of the three remaining conference games will be on the road, as Grove City visits St. Vincent on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. The away schedule concludes four days later with a matchup at Washington & Jefferson at 3 p.m.
Grove City will close out the regular season by hosting Waynesburg University at Don Lyle Field on Oct. 30 at 4:30 p.m.
The six-team conference tournament will begin next Saturday, Nov. 2.
The Wolverines are scheduled to begin preseason camp in mid-August.

GREENVILLE — Anthony Kovach, head coach of the Teal men's and women's tennis teams, a chartered member of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), was recently recognized for his outstanding participation in the association's continuing education programs.
Kovack was awarded a Level 1 Certificate of Achievement for completing 34 credits in USPTA’s Career Development Program over the course of a year.
“I will utilize the knowledge and skills I gained to serve our current student-athletes and throughout the recruiting process,” Kovack said.
USPTA members work as tennis and racquet sports directors, club managers, teaching professionals and instructors at public and private tennis facilities. They serve as the primary delivery system for grassroots programs to advance the game of tennis.
