Kings mixed martial arts coach Rafael Cordeiro recently revealed on a mixed martial arts show that Beneil Dariush resumed sparring in March after taking a significant break from hard training in the gym. Trocason Franca Podcast.
Darish had an eight-fight winning streak ended in 2023 by Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan, both of which were interrupted by strikes. Cordeiro then asked the 34-year-old lightweight to take some time off. This was not the only head injury Darish sustained in 2023.
“Benny had a very tough year last year,” Cordeiro said. “He had two knockouts and three knockdowns. He got knocked down twice in the gym and got knocked out once, then fought Charles and lost by TKO. Then he fought Armand and got knocked out. He's had five head-scratching situations this year. He's a young kid, so we asked him to give us some time.”
Darish had lost only four of his last 27 MMA fights dating back to 2009 before the tough fight, all by stoppage. Michael Chiesa tapped him with a rear-naked choke, and Ramsey Nijem, Edson Barboza and Alexander Hernandez won by KO or TKO.
Cordeiro said Dariusz is in good shape financially and is in no rush to return to the Octagon, but will be ready when the time comes. The founder and leader of Kings MMA said Darish is sparring again in California and he is feeling great.
“As a coach I'm not worried, but as a father I'm worried. I keep him as my own child so I don't need to give him a real test for free right now,” Cordeiro said. Told. “Benny is 8-2 in his last 10 fights and some people want him to retire. That's irrational. With all due respect to what he's saying, we have to listen to the noise and the things we can't control. We will focus on his health because we can't tilt.”
“Let's take a look at the fights that make sense for him the moment he recovers physically,” he continued. “I'm not talking about confidence. He has confidence. It's more of a nerve thing. He got hit a lot so I hope he worries a little bit.”
