Chipotle is revamping its burrito for the Paris Olympics.
The fast-casual Mexican food chain will celebrate the Summer Olympics by wrapping its burritos in gold leaf for a limited time starting July 25. Chipotle is also using gold leaf at the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Beginning Monday, July 1, for a limited time, customers will also be able to order favorites from some of the U.S.'s top Olympians. For example, the Anthony Edwards Bowl, a favorite dish of Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, a member of the U.S. Men's Basketball National Team, is made with half chicken, half steak, brown rice, fresh tomato salsa, roasted chili corn salsa and lettuce.
In addition to Edwards, Chipotle has partnered with other Olympic athletes, including U.S. women's soccer star Sophia Smith, skateboarder Jagger Eaton, beach volleyball player Sarah Hughes and tennis player Taylor Fritz, who post behind-the-scenes training videos on Instagram called “Unwrapped.”
“Each of our Team Chipotle athletes has had their own unique journey,” Chipotle's chief brand officer, Chris Brandt, said in a statement to USA Today. “By highlighting their stories and how Chipotle has been a key part of their training regimens, we hope to inspire and inspire the next generation of great American athletes.”
