CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Team USA pride was on full display today at Providence Day School as the girls field hockey team prepared to head to Paris. The colors of red, white and blue filled the school gym and USA anthems rang out.
It's a special moment for teammates like Amanda Hoffman, who now calls the Queen City home, saying, “One of the things I love about Charlotte is that even though it's a big city, it has a small town feel and it's very welcoming.”

Before the U.S. field hockey team left for Paris, members of the community came together to show their support.
“Everyone here is so kind and gentle, and our little neighborhood in Charlotte is great,” Hoffman added.
The team has been training in Charlotte for the games, and the Queen City has helped the team prepare for this year's Olympics. Kelly LePage, also a Charlotte resident, said: “tThe support that the field hockey community has given us over the last three years since we moved here has been phenomenal.”

This pep rally will play out in LePage's mind many times as she competes in Paris. When asked if she remembered the events in Paris, she replied, “Honestly, I think I remember it a lot. Gratitude is one of those things that I write to myself, just being grateful for what I've been given and the experiences that I've had. I think today was one of those moments where I'm just so grateful for the people and the experience and just for everyone to be a part of it.”
The team will face Argentina in their first match on August 28th.
