Jonathan Smith is starting to build Michigan State football's 2025 recruiting class from within state lines.
Orchard Lake St. Mary's three-star linebacker Charles “DJ” White committed to the Spartans for the second time this week on Saturday, with the Southern California quarterback committing to MSU on Monday night. , will join Leo Hannan.
White, who plays multiple positions at OLSM including wide receiver, chose the Spartans on Saturday over Purdue, Kansas and Boston College. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder from West Bloomfield is the No. 10 player in the state and the No. 67 linebacker in the nation, according to 247Sports.com's overall rankings, and the No. 605 linebacker in his class. He is rated as a top player.
On the trail:Michigan State is once again looking to recruit from Ohio State. Brian Wozniak will be in charge.
After being hired in late November, Smith and his staff managed to keep the contracts of River Rouge wide receiver Nick Marsh and flip linebacker Brady Pretzlaff to Minnesota. There were only two in-state scholarship recruits in the 2024 class, and both enrolled at MSU in January and experienced spring practice.
