Some Celtics fans just couldn't bear to see their team lose for the first time in over a month.
During Friday night's 122-84 Game 4 loss to the Mavericks at TD Garden in Dallas, multiple fans were recorded getting into an ugly fight in the stands.
What appears to be a younger fan can be seen repeatedly punching and hitting the older fan, who is on the ground at the top of the stairs when the recording begins.
The young fan threw multiple punches before other fans and security intervened.
The young fan then yelled “you bastard” as he was being restrained.
An older fan, who was being restrained by arena security, got into a brief fight with another fan and was quickly separated.
The Celtics had been on a roll through the playoffs and the NBA Finals, but Friday's loss was their first since the second round on May 9.
They were on a 10-game winning streak heading into the playoffs and will return to Boston with a 3-1 series lead.
“I thought our guys went into the game with the right intentions, but I just thought it didn't work out and I thought Dallas outplayed us. They just played harder,” coach Joe Mazzulla said after Game 4. “We've got to prepare to put ourselves in the best position possible, but it's not a guarantee of anything.
“At the end of the day, we just need to maintain the process and prepare for Game 5.”
