Sherone Moore said Monday at the UM Club of Flint's golf tournament that she wants her team to fly under the radar, and somehow, last year's national champion Michigan Wolverines are doing just that.
Maybe it's the coaching change following Jim Harbaugh's departure to the NFL, the personnel exodus from last year's team, or a tougher-than-usual schedule, but not many around the college football world are giving the Wolverines much of a chance this season.
That's how CBS Sports' Tom Fornelli feels, as he looks at Michigan football's win totals (set at nine) and predicts how many wins the team will have in 2025.
Over 9 wins/Less than 9 wins
victory: Fresno State University, Texas State University, Arkansas State University, University of Southern California, University of Minnesota, University of Washington, Illinois State University, Michigan State University, Indiana University, Northwestern University
loss: Oregon, Ohio State UniversityanalysisI just think everyone is writing off the Wolverines too soon. No, I don't think they'll win another national title, but their offense is inexperienced but loaded with talent. Plus, their defense will likely remain one of the best in the country, so the Wolverines offense doesn't need to perform as well. Pick: 9 or more (+105)
It's been a great first year for Sherone Moore, and a 10-2 record will ensure a trip to the College Football Playoff, but fans will be disappointed after starting the season 8-0 before losing to Oregon and eventually Ohio State. Given the Buckeyes' desperate situation, it would make sense to turn the tide of the rivalry after three straight losses, but the No. 1 priority for Michigan football fans should be to keep winning as that game is the most important one on the schedule.
Of note, Fornelli projects Oregon State to be undefeated, with Oregon’s only loss coming against the Buckeyes.
