Chinese automotive battery giant CATL is pleased to license its next-generation technology to automakers and rival battery manufacturers to accelerate production capacity in the battery electric vehicle industry.
This is the claim of an anonymous company spokesperson interviewed by new energy vehicle website CnEVPost. CATL claims it is in talks with about a dozen automakers for a license royalty service (LRS) to collaborate on the development and production of this technology.
In this, the company will provide not only technology licenses but also plant construction and operation services to help licensees quickly acquire battery production capacity, the spokesperson said. Benefits for CATL include access to new revenue models and more sophisticated forms of expanding its presence abroad.
The company is recognized as the world leader in battery supply with a 36.8% market share, but the company still lacks the capacity needed to meet the expected global growth in BEVs, a spokesperson said. Ta. CATL continues to build a new battery factory in preparation for expected demand, the spokesperson said.
In an interview with CnEVPost, a spokesperson was quoted as saying: “CATL is committed to supporting the global transition to new energy sources with advanced technologies and products, and is actively exploring multiple cooperation models with global partners. There is still significant growth potential in the market as mitigation efforts continue. In addition, many of the announced plants are yet to be installed. It is unclear whether the announced production capacity will actually be achieved.
