Carolina Ascent Football Club, one of the eight founding teams in the Division I USL Super League, announced its name and brand on Thursday. After a series of listening sessions and online surveys with fans and supporters, Ascent and Breeze were ultimately chosen.
Ascent's branding incorporates blue, orange, gold, white and purple, with a soccer ball that moves between a mountain with a view of the sunrise at the top and ocean waves and sun reflections at the bottom. Ball included. The team's name is on the wave, flanked by a star and a crescent moon.
The U.S. Soccer Federation approved the USL Super League's Division 1 application in February, making it the second top-level league for women's soccer in the United States, along with the National Women's Soccer League, which includes the Cary-based North Carolina Courages. It has been confirmed that it will become a sanctioned organization.
