Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James is scheduled to make his NBA Summer League debut on Saturday at the California Classic.
James, the eldest son of Lakers star LeBron James, signed the contract on Wednesday that will pay him $7.9 million over four seasons.
Bronny was selected 55th overall in the second round of the NBA Draft and joined the Lakers, making LeBron and Bronny the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time.
The 19-year-old Bronny played one season at the University of Southern California and committed to entering the NBA draft after his freshman season. A year ago, he suddenly suffered heart failure and was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. Bronny underwent surgery to repair the heart defect and was cleared by the league's Fitness to Play Committee to play for the Trojans and in the NBA.
