Lucas Oil Stadium hosted two sports simultaneously on the fourth night of the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials with the Indiana Fever. The Fever, Indianapolis' WNBA team, was honored before the start of the finals in honor of USA Swimming's “Night of Female Athletes.”
USA Swimming also sponsored a giveaway of sunglasses and koozies to the first 5,000 fans who entered the stadium Tuesday night, courtesy of the Fever and the Indiana Pacers.
The entire Fever team was in attendance. Caitlin Clarkthe No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft and one of the most popular athletes in America right now. Aaliyah Bostonthe 2023 WNBA No. 1 pick and WNBA Rookie of the Year. Other Fever players in attendance included: Grace Berger, Narissa Smith, Erica Wheeler, Victoria Saxton, Christy Wallace, Temi Fagbenle, Katie Lou Samuelson, Lexie Hull, Kelsey Mitchell and Celeste TaylorIn addition to the head coach, the name of each member of the team was announced over the loudspeaker. Clark also posed for a photo with the five-time Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer. Missy Franklin.
The Fever will play two home games during the Olympic Qualifying Period from June 15-23, defeating the Chicago Sky 91-83 on Sunday and hosting the Washington Mystics on Wednesday night.
Clark's addition to the Fever has generated a lot of excitement in Indianapolis this season. Gainbridge Fieldhouse has averaged 16,683 fans per game, the most for a WNBA team this year. The Fever's most recent game against the Sky averaged 2.25 million viewers on CBS, the most for a WNBA game in the past 23 years.
